April Presidents Message

Dear ASHRAE Atlanta Chapter Members,

We are nearing the end of the ASHRAE year, and we are going to finish with a bang!

My name is Mark Dahir, I am an Application Consultant at Mingledorff’s, and I am your Chapter President for the year 2025 - 2026. I have been an ASHRAE member since 2007 and Atlanta Chapter member since 2008. I have served as the Refrigeration Chair for several years and have also served on the Board of Governors for the chapter.

We had a great April chapter meeting! Dr. Allison Mahvi from UW Madison came down to educate us on Flexible and Efficient Energy Systems for a Sustainable Future. Her presentation was very informative and sparked an engaging conversation afterward with a lengthy Q&A session. We also had 19 student members in attendance!

We also recently held the 2026 ASHRAE Atlanta Chapter Trade Show at the Cobb Galleria. This was the first trade show hosted by Atlanta Chapter ASHRAE in nine years, and more than 200 people attended! The technical presentations were terrific, and there was lots of networking and friendly conversation. I will likely reach out to everyone who attended to request feedback to help improve future shows, and I hope to keep the momentum going and put on another Trade Show in the near future. Special thanks to Ashton Bateman for all the work he put into planning the show, and many thanks to all of our sponsors as well!

We will not have another chapter meeting until after the Summer, but we are planning an all-day seminar focused on IEQ (Indoor Environmental Quality) in May so stay tuned for more details. This will be a good opportunity to learn about an important topic, which is also the ASHRAE Society President’s theme for this year, and pick up some PDH credits in the process. Registration for the Spring Golf Tournament is also now open and there are still teams available so please visit the chapter website (link below) to sign up.

You are all welcome to reach out to me directly with any feedback or questions you may have. The chapter is here to serve every one of our more than 900 members, and the participation and feedback of our membership is crucial to our success. We have some terrific topics lined up for our chapter meetings this year, but we are always open to suggestions for what you might find interesting and important. I can also help you get involved if you want to volunteer for the Atlanta chapter.
