I would like to wish all of you a Happy New Year and Happy Holidays! I would like to see all of our members make one of their new years resolutions to become more involved in Atlanta ASHRAE. Being an active member is a great way to learn about our industry, make friends and contacts and help to grow our industry in a positive direction.
Our December Holiday Meeting honoring our past presidents was a huge success at the Fernbank Museum on December 11th! 23 past presidents attended along with their guests and we had a great turnout from the rest of our membership as well. Caroline Calloway did a great job planning this event and the food and Imax movie were spectacular.
On January 8th, 2008 we will hold our second lunchtime meeting for this year at Fox Sports Grill at Atlantic Station. The November and January meetings were changed to lunchtime meetings on a trial basis to allow our members that cannot normally attend nighttime meetings the opportunity to get involved. These meetings are held from 11:30 – 1:30 at the FoxSports Grill @ Atlantic Station. Lunch will be served from 11:30 – 12:00 and our speakers will present from 12:00-1:00. The Tuesday, December 8th meeting will feature Bill McClure and his presentation is "Mold, Mildew & IAQ". There will be no Education Seminar or Technical Forum during these meetings. The cost for these lunchtime meetings will be $20 for members and $25 for non-members. Please feel free to give me your feedback on these new lunchtime meetings so that we can decide if they work for our membership in future calendar years.
Our annual product show will be held on Wednesday, March 12th from 10:00-3:00 at the North Atlanta Trade Center in Norcross. Please sign up for booths early by contacting Bruce Longino at blongino@mingledorffs.com. Engineers and contractors please mark you calendars to attend this great event.
Our ASHRAE Research Promotion Drive got off to a great start for the 2007/8 year by raising over $3,000 towards ASHRAE Research with the Fall Golf Tournament at Hamilton Mill Golf Club. Please start planning your team for the Spring Golf Tournament that will be held on Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 at Hamilton Mill Golf Club. Please help support ASHRAE Research by sponsoring a hole, luncheon, and/or team.If you are not a golfer, we would graciously accept individual and corporate donations.
As president, my main goal for this year is to continue to improve on our service to our members in the Atlanta Chapter. We have moved to a new location, revamped our website (www.ashraeatlanta.org), and have put together a dynamic group of volunteers. We would appreciate your feedback on any improvements that can be made to help serve you and our industry better.
