October's Message

Our September Atlanta Chapter meeting at FoxSports Grill @ Atlantic Station started the 2007/8 ASHRAE Atlanta year off with great success. Our Education Seminar, Tech Forum and Dinner Meetings were all well attended and the feedback on our speakers and new location was outstanding. The emphasis for our dinner meeting was student activities and we had almost 20 students in attendance from UGA, Georgia Tech and SPSU. At this meeting we also presented the awards that the Atlanta Chapter won at the Region IV CRC in Charleston, SC for the successful 2006/7 campaign led by Dr. Sheldon Jeter. The Atlanta Chapter received the Star award for reaching a minimum of par in all PAOE categories, which shows the great success of all of our committees. Charlie Fischer received the Beacon award for having the top performance in our region as chairman of the membership committee. The trophy for this award was presented to Charlie at the meeting. Jason Clifton received the high-five award for raising over $35,000 towards ASHRAE Research, which was the highest contribution level for the last 5 years by the Atlanta Chapter and the highest dollar amount raised in our region for this year. Congratulations to Sheldon and his team for a great year!

In October we have several informative and fun events planned for our members. Our Atlanta Chapter meeting will be held at the FoxSports Grill at Atlantic Station on Tuesday, October 9th and will have an Education Seminar (1:30-4:30), Tech Forum (5:00-6:00) and Dinner Meeting (6:30-8:30). The emphasis at the dinner meeting will be on Research Promotion & Membership. This is a chance to get to know your fellow industry partners better and earn 5 pdh hours in one afternoon and evening! On Wednesday, October 17th the Atlanta Chapter will hold its annual Fall RP Golf Tournament @ Hamilton Mill Golf Club. Please sponsor a team by contacting Jason Clifton on the form enclosed in this Tstat. Our final event in October will be the Gwinnett Corridor meeting at Ryans Hot-off-the-grill in Norcross on Thursday, October 8th from 11:30-1:30. Please see the Tstat for additional information on all of these great events!

Our list of great programs and events will continue in future months. Highlights are the lunchtime chapter meetings @ Fox Sports on Tuesday, November 13th and Tuesday, January 8th. Please note that these are 11:30-1:30 lunchtime meetings. We will hold our annual Holiday meeting on Tuesday, December 11th at Fernbank Museum and will be honoring our past presidents of the Atlanta Chapter. Our annual product show will be held on Wednesday, March 12th from 10:00-3:00 at the North Atlanta Trade Center in Norcross. Please sign up for booths early by contacting Bruce Longino at blongino@mingledorffs.com and Engineers and Contractors please mark you calendars to attend this great event. The Macon Section will also be having three additional meetings on Thursdays, November 15th, February 21st and April 17th. We will also hold three additional Gwinnett Corridor meetings on Thursdays, October 18th, January 17th and March 27th. Please look in this and future Tstats for details on all of these events.

As president, my main goal for this year is to continue to improve on our service to our members in the Atlanta Chapter. We have moved to a new location, revamped our website, and have put together a dynamic group of volunteers.
