Tstat President's February Message

Archived Messages: Jan. | Oct. | Nov. | Dec.

The new year for the Atlanta ASHRAE Chapter started off with a bang! Our lunch meeting on January 8th at FoxSports Grill was extremely well attended and two other programs were slated for late January that also are huge draws for our membership. These were the Gwinnett Corridor Meeting and a Refrigeration Tour/Gladiators Game at the Gwinnett Arena. We would like to thank all of those that attended these great events and we hope to keep 2008 rolling with such success at our future events!

On February 12th, 2008 we will return to our traditional nighttime meeting time at Fox Sports Grill at Atlantic Station. An education seminar will be provided from 1:30-4:30, followed by the Tech Forum from 5-6 and dinner meeting from 6:30 - 8:30pm. The education seminar is free if you stay for the dinner meeting, which is $25 for member and $30 for non-members. 5 pdh credits can be earned in one afternoon and evening! Please see the information in this newsletter for speaker and topic information.

On Thursday, February 21st we will hold our Macon Section Meeting in Macon, Georgia. John McFarland will speak on "Energy modeling as a design tool". Please see the information in this newsletter for more information on this great event.

Our annual product show will be held on Wednesday, March 12th from 10:00am - 3:00pm at the North Atlanta Trade Center in Norcross. Please sign up for booths early by contacting Bruce Longino at blongino@mingledorffs.com. Engineers and contractors please mark you calendars to attend this great event.

Our ASHRAE Research Promotion Drive got off to a great start for the 2007/8 year by raising over $3,000 towards ASHRAE Research with the Fall Golf Tournament at Hamilton Mill Golf Club. Please start planning your team for the Spring Golf Tournament that will be held on Wednesday, May 7th, 2008 at Hamilton Mill Golf Club. Please help support ASHRAE Research by sponsoring a hole, luncheon, and/or team.If you are not a golfer, we would graciously accept individual and corporate donations.

We are beginning to plan for the 2008/2009 calendar year. If you are wishing to become more involved in the Atlanta Chapter please contact me so that we can get you involved in our leadership for the upcoming year. We would also invite feedback from our members on things that we are currently doing and things that you feel could be done to serve our membership better (ie, Topics that you would like to hear more about, meeting times and locations, etc.). As president, my main goal for this year is to continue to improve on our service to our members in the Atlanta Chapter. We have moved to a new location, revamped our website (www.ashraeatlanta.org), and have put together a dynamic group of volunteers. We would appreciate your feedback on any improvements that can be made to help serve you and our industry better. Please feel free to contact me at gnorthrup@bacheco.com or 770-449-0680, ext. 124 with any comments or questions.

We look forward to seeing all of you at future Atlanta Chapter meetings and events!Feel free to contact me at gnorthrup@bacheco.com, or 770-449-0680, ext. 124 with and comments or questions.
