The ideal candidate will have the following:
Responsibilities:
- HVAC design and installation for new/renovated laboratories.
- Develop and manage design and maintenance plans for reliable HVAC equipment.
- Develop long-term HVAC upgrade plans using energy efficiency and reduction technologies
- Manage multiple HVAC-related capital projects including:
- Scope, cost, and schedule.
- Apply national and internal Engineering standards and codes the design of a wide variety of laboratory and pilot plant HVAC equipment.
- Specify, install, start-up, and troubleshoot.
- Generate layouts, P&IDs, and process flow drawings.
- Work with contractors during construction.
- Use Facility Asset Management software platform (Vertex) to manipulate condition assessment data in order to develop repair and replacement budgets.
Other Job Expectations:
- Work with site to deliver reliability and cost-savings improvements.
- Maintain working knowledge of latest state-of-the-art laboratory HVAC designs.
- Self-motivated, self-directed. Strong written and oral presentation skills.
- Strong leadership and teamwork skills with engineering and skilled craft people.
- Maintain vendor/supplier relationships to obtain quotations and specifications for purchased equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education Required:
- BS in Engineering from accredited college or university
Other Qualifications:
- 3+ years of industrial HVAC design experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications - particularly Excel
- Knowledge of Microstation (preferable) or AutoCAD (desirable)
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills is a must for customer contact / interaction
- Must be willing to follow established company policies and guidelines in the design and conduct of projects and activities
Specific Skills Desired:
- Strong background in industrial laboratory HVAC design
- Solid background in selecting chemical fume hoods, VFDs, hood and sash automation, pneumatic and digital controls, VAV exhaust
- Experience in Reliability Engineering Management System principles. Create economic HVAC repair/replacement forecasts
- Strong HVAC troubleshooting
- Strategic foresight for new HVAC technologies in new or older renovated laboratories
- Knowledge of HVAC piping, equipment, and controls
In addition to the above, the preferred candidate will have:
- Professional Engineer License, State of Tennessee
- Laboratory/Research facilities HVAC design experience
- Experience/professional accreditation in Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Operations & Maintenance: Existing Buildings and / or New Construction and Major Renovations
- Knowledge / experience in Building Information Modeling (BIM)
